Camping - Weekend of January 20th

We went camping last weekend. Can you believe I didn't take a single picture?!?! Ugh!!! Bad Heather. We went with new people this time. We were invited by one of the families at Connor's school. A little boy that was in Kindergarten last year with Connor (Domanik). He is just the sweetest boy and the kids (even the girls) had a ton of fun this weekend. It was a lot of fun. The weather was pretty good Friday and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon we had a dust storm blow through. That was the first time that's ever happened to me before!!! It was so bad, there was about 2 inches of dirt IN my motorhome. Some of the windowsills had an inch of dirt sitting on it that I had to vacuum up. It was unreal!!! There were tables blowing over, shoes blowing away, garbage cans flying - even Christmas trees running around!! Yikes! Thankfully it only lasted about an hour or so and then it was beautiful the rest of the night. :) Of course, the time the storm hit was the same time the boys had gone on a ride so needless to say, it wasn't a great ride since they couldn't see more than a foot in front of them.

But we all had a great time and the group we went camping with was really fun. Hopefully we'll be able to go back out with them again!! (And I will take pictures this time!)

Camping at Ocotillo Wells

So we went camping last weekend at Ocotillo Wells. It was a very beautiful but eventful (and not good eventful) weekend. It started with us heading out of town Thursday night. Surbjit and I took Friday off to make it a nice 4 day weekend although we only planned to camp until Sunday. Got there Thursday night, no problems, unloaded and headed to bed. Friday woke up and the kids went outside played etc. After fighting with the girls to take a nap (I really have no place for them to be confined anymore since they can crawl out of the travel cribs and Emily will NOT settle down until she basically passes out), Emily finally fell asleep. Taylor never did and she was feeling warm to me so I took her temp. She had a fever. =( Gave her Motrin. All afternoon and night. Everyone went to bed, woke up in the morning and it was 103.5. Started packing up the motorhome. Got everything packed and then we decided instead of going home, we'd take our friends truck and take her to the local ER (which was 33 miles away) and have them check her out. She was just getting over a cold so she probably had an ear infection.

So off I go to the hospital. Thankfully it wasn't really crowded and we got seen quite fast. No ear infection, throat looked good. She probably just has a cold but let's take a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. So they did and no pneumonia. Basically just rotate Motrin and Tylenol every three hours and that was that. Of course, since that time she really hadn't had a fever since that morning. So we got back to camp at noon. The kids got to finish playing but Taylor was still upset every so often and kept saying "I pooped" but there was no poop. So on Sunday we get home and I take her to the doctor AGAIN. We thought maybe Urinary Tract Infection but her fever had gone away so I don't know. Get to the doctor. She definitely has poop stuck in there so I had to do a suppistory and prune juice. It worked its way out. And it was hard as a rock. Poor girl. The doctor said since she had a cold she was probably dehydrated and not drinking enough so that's why the poop got so hard. So Monday she was still complaining a little so I gave her some stool softener and kept her home from school. She went poop and it was SO much better. So I guess we need to start watching out for her and make sure she is well hydrated in order to stave off the constipation. Poor thing!!!

Onto better news, this morning I got the kids ups and noticed Emily's diaper wasn't that wet. She had pee'd but it wasn't soaking so I asked if she had to potty. She said yes so we went to potty and she DID! I guess I know what I'll be doing every morning now. =) Yesterday she even told Surbjit she had to potty so they went to the potty and she pee'd! Woo Hoo!! I have a feeling she will definitely be potty trained before her sister.

Here are a few pictures from this past weekend. These were taken with Surbjit's iPhone when Taylor and I were gone to the Hospital which is why she isn't in the pictures. Once I download the camera, I'll share more!!

First Camping Trip

Was great! Ok, not great but great. It was a beauitful weekend! I couldn't ask for anything more. It was nice enough that I actually was able to bring the girls outside on Saturday and sit outside enjoying the fresh air! I was even outside with Taylor on Sunday. Emily didn't get to come out because she fell asleep in the swing and I didn't want to move her.

So we ended up not getting to camp until 6pm on Friday. We left at 1pm. Traffic sucked! And the poor kids stuck in their car seats. Connor napped for a whole hour on the entire ride there. The girls basically slept the whole time but woke up when we stopped for gas. That was a JOKE. There were so many motorhomes and truck/trailers that it was a mad house trying to get gas. I ended up having to drive the truck (we were towing it behind the motorhome) away from the gas pumps so Surbjit wasn't blocking this guy in and so he could manuever better. UGH!! Of course that also meant Surbjit was stuck with three crying kids while he was fueling up. As soon as we hooked back up and got going, I fed the girls in their car seats. We had about 45 mins more until we got to camp from that point.

We got to camp and figured out where we were going to park and stuff and got the motorhome set up for camping. Surbjit took Connor outside with him to play while I took care of the girls. They both came inside after Surbjit finished setting up what he could outside and we got Connor ready for bed and let him watch Thomas & Friends. He did not go to bed until 10:30!!!! Let's just say Connor didn't sleep much this weekend.

We put the girls in their beds about that time too and we all went to bed. Connor woke up in the middle of the night crying so we brought him into bed with us. Then like an hour later one of the girls woke up so I fed her. It was constantly like that all night. I don't think we got much more than an hour sleep at a time. We got up with the girls at 6 am and Connor ended up sleeping until 7am.

In the morning, Surbjit took Connor in his truck and they went 4x4 ing. They had Curtis and Braeden in the truck with them. Connor wanted to do everything Braeden was doing. It was fun to watch him this weekend playing and interacting with other kids. He does really well. I just basically hung out with the girls all weekend. It was nice.

The ride home was basically the same as the ride there except it took an hour less! But we have decided no more 3 hour (what it's supposed to take us) camping trips with the girls this small. It's just too much for them. They were really fussy both when we got there and when we got home. I wouldn't be happy sitting in the carseat that long either.
