Last Weekend

We had a busy weekend. Harjinder's store opened up at Anaheim GardenWalk this weekend so we went down to visit and order smoothies.

They had a soft opening on Friday night (when this picture was taken) just for friends & family. We also went on Saturday and got to enjoy the whole place. A lot of stores aren't open yet but they are all getting ready to within the next month or so. It's going to be a good place to go and hang out. So if you are ever in the area check it out!!

While we were hanging out for the day, drinking our smoothies, we went to lunch at California Pizza Chicken there. It was the first time we have taken the girls out to a restaurant since they've been born!

Connor, the girls and Mona did awesome! It was so nice to sit outside. It was a beautiful day and we were sitting right on Katella so we got to people watch and enjoy a nice lunch. It actually wasn't bad! After lunch we all dispersed and we ended up driving to Rancho Cucamonga to Mathis Brothers to search for new furniture for Connor. We are getting rid of his crib set (Surbjit's brother is taking it for their new baby) so we are getting Connor a twin bed, dresser and table and chair set. If we can find something. So far we have only found something passable at Living Spaces. We basically didn't find anything in Rancho but that's ok. At least now we know and don't really like Mathis Brothers. Most of the furniture just seemed cheap. None of the dressers were on rollers it was all friction slide and it was basically MDF construction for the bottom of the drawers. I know how Connor is and I need good furniture! So we are going to take a day off of work (no kids) and go to places that we know of. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!!

On Father's Day, we just stayed at home and I took the kids on a walk to get out of the house so Daddy could relax and enjoy no kids. I am proud to say Connor actually rode his bike the entire block by himself!! I was so shocked that he wanted to ride his bike. For the most part he got himself going and I didn't have to help at all. He'd ask for help and I'd pretend to help but he got himself going. It was a slow ride because he kept stopping but once he got going a few times, he actually ran into me once because I wasn't expecting him to get going!! I have a feeling in a few weeks I'll be jogging behind him trying to keep up! =)

So that was our weekend!

Emily Said It!!

She said Da-da. I swear she did. And so does Surbjit. Actually I swear she said it like two weeks ago but that's a different story. For the past two days, she is a talker. Opening her mouth and making it go up and down. So last night when I was giving her her last bottle she was looking at me and smiling (and NOT eating, grrr) so I started saying Dada to her over and over. She kept looking at me and opening and closing her mouth mimicking me and then making sounds and saying da-da. So there you have it!

Connor doing Yoga at Baby Loves Disco.

I'm not quite sure if this going to work but this is a video of Connor and Dylan doing Yoga. I still haven't seen it but I'm ready for bed and Youtube is still "processing" it. If it doesn't work, let me know!!

And Another:

My BOB

I just have to say, I LOVE my BOB stroller.

Here are Taylor & Emily in it. I've actually taken the girls & Connor on a walk everyday that I've been home all day since I got it. It's so nice!!! And they even fell asleep on Sunday in it so it must be comfortable for them too. =)

You Know Gas Prices are High When . . .

It's really sad when your 2 1/2 year old knows that gas is expensive. Connor was up before I left for work this morning and this was our conversation:

M: Bye Connor I'm going to work. See you tonight.
C: You going bye-bye?
M: Yeah I'm going to work.
C: To make money?
M: Yep.
C: For gas??

How sad are the gas prices???

Memorial Day Camping Trip 2008

I know I know. I'm a little late in talking about it. But life with three kids is hectic! Since i can't download the pictures at work I can't share. I could have just written about it but what fun is that without pictures. ;-)
So all in all it was a good trip. The kids did AWESOME! The girls took excellant naps (and haven't since =( ) and went to bed like champs. I guess the fresh air (the little we got) wore them out. It rained a lot that weekend. Weather was not cooperative. It rained Thursday after we got there. Luckily we got camp set up THEN it decided to rain. It rained off and on on Friday so the kids stayed in the motorhome and watched 101 Dalmatians. Then it rained Saturday morning but Saturday afternoon and Sunday were gorgeous!! So at least we got 1 1/2 days of good weather. The rain didn't bother Connor at all. He had a blast playing with Braeden. Every morning he'd wake up and ask "where's Braeden". Braeden is our friends 5 year old son. They played well together for the most part so it was nice to have to worry about him too much. We took a walk with the girls every day in the Baby Bjorn's up to the camp store. Nice little jaunt so they got out and got some fresh air. And they got to play alot in their "playpen". I really like this campground as it is beach level on the south side and really easy to get to the beach from our campsite. We know the two spots we want to get next year and if we do, we'd have this whole corner to ourselves. So I hope we get it!!! Anyway, here are some pics:

Our campsite - As you will notice the tv on the side of the motorhome. What can I say, we travel in style (and we had to watch the Laker game. GO LAKERS!!!!)

6 month pictures!

So I went and got the girls 6 month pictures done on Saturday. I went by myself! It actually wasn't too bad but next time, I'm going to be assuming they'll be moving, so I will DEFINITELY need help!! They both did pretty good. Taylor was not into it at first at all. Which is kinda bummer since all the pictures of them with my favorite background didn't turn out good. But the single ones did so I guess that's ok. So, here are some of the pictures:

Emily (she is always my smiley one!!)

Taylor (I'm amazed we finally got her to smile)

Taylor was finally starting to have some fun!!

A Quote

I just wanted to share this quote.

We are getting ready to go camping tomorrow. Can't wait. I am not looking forward to loading the motorhome tonight (I have to do three loads of laundry and get the kids fed and to bed and then load the food, do last minute grocery shopping for a couple of last minute things) and then we'll be ready to take off. I'm hopint to get it all done tonight so tomorrow we can relax in the morning.

In other news, my stroller is here!!!!! WOO HOO!!! I broke down and ordered the BOB Duaille (Thanks Uncle Ralph for letting me know about the REI sale!). I got it $100 cheaper because REI was having a huge sale. It was backordered but I only had to wait a week. So I know I just need to find time to go down to the REI store in Huntington Beach and get it. I'm so excited!!!!

Review of One Step Ahead's Divided Dishes

Originally submitted at One Step Ahead

A picky-eater pleaser. Ick! My carrots are touching my applesauce! For finicky eaters, that's enough to spoil an appetite. The solution? Our reusable divided dishes, with five deep compartments to keep courses separate. Top rack dishwasher-safe. Economical and unbreakable--ideal for dining out, too...

I would buy this product again and again

Pros: Easy To Clean, Durable, Easy To Use

Best Uses: Meals, Toddlers

Describe Yourself: Parent of Multiples (Twins etc), Parent of Two or More Children

I LOVE these plates! I had originally bought some cheap $1 plates that were great for the price, but didn't even last me two months. These plates are durable, dishwasher safe and great at keeping things in specific spots for your toddler to be happy. My son loves these plates because they are "his" and moves his food around in the different compartments. The round compartant fits a take and toss cup perfectly so there is even room for the cup on the plate.

My review of the Sandwich Cutter

Originally submitted at One Step Ahead

A PBJ essential! In one quick motion, this clever gadget quarters sandwiches into perfect, tot-pleasing pieces, while removing the bread crust. It even seals the edges to minimize messy oozing. Ideal for picky eaters; works with peanut butter, grilled cheese, and more. Dishwasher safe.

Not really worth it

I tried this as soon as I got it, thinking cool! No more cutting my sons PB&J or any sandwich for that matter. One fell swoop and it's cut. Saves time right?? Nope. It doesn't cut the edges good enough I end up having to rip them and it really doesn't "seal" the PB&J in the sandwich. Save your money and use a knife. You'll get the same effect.

6 Months Old!!!

My gosh!! Where oh where has the time gone! Geez! It seems like yesterday I was just posting an update about 3 months! I really can't believe they are already 1/2 a year old. In 6 more months, they will be one year old! (geez, I guess that means I need to start planning their first birthday!!). Let's see. The last two nights Emily has really been trying. She's woken up and cried and cried and cried. Finally I fed her and she went back to sleep Wednesday night but last night she "talked" for a little bit and then I'm assuming went to bed. UGH! I know that girl can go all night. She's done it. She just does it when she wants to I guess. I've said time and time again, it's a good thing she has her bright smile because when she looks at you and smiles, you can't help but NOT be mad at her!

Ok, so what's up with the girls at 6 months:

Taylor:

She is rolling over consistently and is a scooter. She LOVES to sleep either on her side or tummy. You can NOT put her in her rocker and not buckle her in. She WILL fall off because she scoots down. She is now getting baths in the big tub with big brother. It makes bath time a little quicker but she is a squirmy one! She's eating solids now and doing ok. When she is the mood for them, she will open up wide. But if not, she won't take them. She really isn't crazy about rice cereal or peas but likes sweet potatoes and squash. We are moving onto carrots this weekend. =) She sleeps all night for momma because she know how momma likes her sleep. ;-) But she does wake up early. Sometimes around 4am. She is a finicky eater with her bottle. I so can not wait for them to be off the bottle. She fights us and squirms and wants to look at everything but she gets in about 24 ozs a day (4 bottles 5am, 10am, 3pm and 6pm about 6-8 ozs each feed). She is SOLID. She feels so much heavier than her sister and yet she is only about a lb heavier.

Emily:

She has started to roll over and can but doesn't do it consistently. She wants to sit up all the time and can sit unsupported for about 15 seconds before she tries to fall over. She LOVES to play with toys and will manipulate them in her hand all the time. She also LOVES to take the binkie out of her mouth and put it back in. She can do is successfully a lot of the time. She's my good solid eater. She likes everything and gobbles down an entire jar now! She has had a reaction to sweet potatoes (a diaper rash) so no more sweet potatoes for her for awhile. But she's liked everything we've given her (rice cereal, peas, sweet potatoes and squash). She can sleep through the night although she is choosing not to right now. Makes for one tired momma. But that smile of hers just melts my heart. She is a hard person to feed a bottle to also. Again, I can not wait until they are OFF the bottle. I've introduced a sippy cup to her and she's taken to it. Maybe by the time she is 9 months I can have her off the bottle. That would be nice! She is a HUGELY messy eater. I go through burp cloths like crazy!! She is also drinking 4 bottles a day at the same times.

They are both doing good. If I could just get Emily to keep sleeping at night consistnetly I'd be a happy camper! Speaking of camping, we are going on our annual Memorial Day camping trip next weekend. Can't wait. It will be the girls first time at the beach and their first time with sand! I hope the weather cooperates and is nice unlike last year in which we were all wearing sweatshirts at the beach. =( Well, that's our update for now.

Connor at the La Habra Children's Museum

We went with my working moms group to the La Habra Children's Musuem on Saturday. It was a fun place. Definitely for older kids (i.e., walking although 2 and under are free). They had an exhibit this month of Superheroes, Superjobs, so they had stuff for Firefighters, Policemen, Mailman, Governor, Teachers etc. Although Connor enjoyed the model train set instead. =) We did have a lot of fun!

Aquarium Trip

So when Grandma and Grandma D came to visit, we all went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. What a difference a couple of months makes! I took Connor here in June of last year with Melanie and Dylan. He liked it but was never focused per se. This time he loved it!! Here are a few pictures:

It's May Already?!?!

Yikes. Where did the time go? It seems like yesterday it was the beginning of the year. So good news! Emily rolled over on Sunday from back to front. But hasn't done it again since! LOL! Although when she sees something she wants, she tries to reach for it and get it. I bet she starts moving around here soon!! And if I hadn't already said it, she can sit up on her own for about 15-30 seconds. YEAh!!!!

Other than that, not much going on. Emily slept all last night, sort of. She woke up twice but I went in, put her binkie back in her mouth and she went back to sleep. But they both woke up at 4am. I did put the binkies back in their mouths, took a shower and got ready and Emily had fallen back asleep but Taylor was on her tummy doing tummy time (did I tell you all she is a stomach sleeper!). So I got her dressed and fed her and Emily woke up. Thankfully she has started being like her sister and just sat talking in her crib. Whew!!

Here are a couple pictures of them recently:

Why aren't we sleeping through the night???

Ok, last night. Bath night. I got Emily ready and handed her off to Surbjit to feed. Then I got Taylor ready. Emily fell asleep on Surbjit. Taylor was fighting me (and has been doing that the last couple days). She did eat 5 ozs and then was so tired when I was burping her, her head was on my shoulder and she was fast asleep. Put her in her crib, no crying. Grabbed Emily from Surbjit (who was still sleeping). That woke her up in which I was able to feed her a little more but then she kept fighting me and wouldn't take the bottle. She'd only had 2 ozs. There was NO WAY I could have to go to sleep with just that as that would mean she'd wake up for sure. So I sat her down in her chair. Did a load of laundry and waited for her to get mad. Surbjit got Connor and started gaving him a bath. By this time Emily was starting to cry and freak out so I grabbed her and she ate. She finished about 5 ozs also and was falling asleep so I put her to bed. No crying.

Of course Emily decided to wake up at 12:45am. I tried to just keep giving her her binkie as I don't think she needs to eat at this time. It's just started to become routine for her(which I NEED to break). But in the end, I made a 4 oz bottle and fed it to her. But I swear, half of it ended up on her bib. =( Then Taylor decided to wake up a little after 4am but she was just talking and moving around so I let her be. I finally got her up at 4:45am and got her dressed and ready. And then I had to wake up Emily.

I really hope Emily starts figuring out that waking up at night is NOT a good thing. If I could just get them sleeping through the night again, I'd be a much more rested and happy mom.

What did we do different???

Ok last night, Surbjit fed Taylor and I fed Emily. Neither one ate their whole bottle, they both only had 4 ozs (but they both have been having 7 ozs all day). So we put them to bed at the same time. Emily cried for maybe a minute, then all was quiet and they went to sleep. Connor decided to wake up around 10:30 and came to bed with us. His leg was bothering him. He skinned his knee a little at daycare today but it didn't look bad so not sure what that was about but it seemed like the fabric from his pants was bothering it. So we rolled up his pant leg and he went to sleep next to me. Midnight rolls around and Emily wakes up. I go in to giver her her binkie and she is asleep just crying out. So I give her her binkie, her eyes never open and she sucks on it and appears to go back to sleep. I go to our room but she is now awake so I feed her. I made her a 4 oz bottle only and she went right back to sleep when I put her in her crib. 4am (or should i say 3:56 because my alarm hadn't gone off yet!). Emily is crying again. So go take a shower, get dressed and go feed her which then Taylor decides to wake up. So i feed her. I'm done with both by 5am and then I go finish putting on my makeup and getting ready. UGH!

Bad blogger & last night

I was doing so good for awhile. Then my mom and Diana came into town and I haven't had time since. LOL! No I'm not blaming them. I'm blaming my life with three kids under three. There is never time for anything anymore. I took a couple pictures yesterday of Connor playing in his new sandbox with sand and realized I have 120 pictures on the camera! Geez! Good thing I have a 2GB card in there. UGH! I'll try tonight to download them. I know the girls are chaning so much. I look back at their pictures from when they were a month or two old and they look nothing like that now. And they look so much different from each other now too!

I also wanted to come in here and sort of chronical their nights. Maybe i'll detect a pattern or something.

Last night was bath night. Surbjit fed Taylor, I fed Emily. Taylor kept falling asleep on him. We were also trying new BPA free bottles (Parent's Choice by Wal-Mart). I put Emily to bed and tried to finish Taylor with her bottle. Then I put her to bed. Both babies did NOT cry. (WOO HOO!!!) Both slept all night but decided to wake up at 4:30am. Ugh. Oh well. Poor Taylor had to wait until I was done feeding Emily since she will just sit there and cry while Taylor will sit there and talk for awhile.

So that was our night last night. I want to kinda keep track of when and what happens to see if there is a way to get them to not cry before they go to bed. They don't usually cry for very long but still. It pains me and I'm tired of it. It almost seems like if I put one to bed first and then the other they don't cry. I will have to test that theory out.

4 Month Check up (Ok at 5 months)

The girls had their four month check up on Tuesday. Here are their stats:

Taylor
birth: 6 lbs 7 ozs 18.5 inches
5 months: 14 lbs 7 ozs 24.75 inches

Emily
birth: 4 lbs 13 ozs 17 inches
5 months: 13 lbs 5 ozs 24.5 inches

So Emily is catching up with Taylor!! Although I swear there is more than a one lb difference in weight. If you hold Taylor and then Emily my gosh. Taylor is definitely more heavy. But I think it's because she is more solid than Emily. Emily is my dainty girl!

They both got four shots. And of course, Emily had just started coming down with a cold (runny nose) that morning. She did not fare well with the shots. She had a fever that night and was grumpy. I'm sure not being able to breath out of her nose did not help. So we stayed home Wednesday and she was doing much better by the afternoon smiling again and being her usual self. She seems all fine now but now Surbjit is sick. I sure do hope Connor, Taylor and I don't get it!!!

I know I'm really behind in catching up. I haven't had a chance to blog about Grandma and Grandma D's visit either. I will. Also, Taylor now rolls from back to tummy! And Grandma and Grandma D were able to see it when she did it for basically the first time. Well I will update more later when I have time!!!

Connor picked Strawberries

Last Saturday, Connor and I headed out to Tanaka Farms with my Working Moms group to go on a farm tour and pick strawberries. It was so much fun! We got to ride a wagon pulled by a tractor (Connor's favorite!). It was funny though, every time we stopped he would ask, "all done?". We got to sample fresh grown veggies too. Sugar snap peas, spinach, onions, celery, carrots. Connor didn't really like any of it. Although he did eat some spinach but when I gave him more he spit that out. Hey at least he tries it! The end of our tour concluded with us stopping and picking strawberries. Connor loved picking strawberries . . . and eating them. =) He really didn't pick and and put in the box. I guess that was mommy's job. He would pick a strawberry, say "this is for Daddy" and then proceed to eat it. He probably ate as many strawberries as we brought home! They were really delicious too.

Connor picking strawberries with his friend Jasmine.

Oh, funny story about Connor and Jasmine - after the tour was over we were hanging out talking and letting the kids run around. Well Jasmine WANTED to hug and kiss Connor and Connor was like NO! He kept moving away and trying to get away from Jasmine. It ended up as Connor running in a circle with Jasmine chasing him! It was too cute! Reminded me of the disneyland ride Pirates of the Caribbean where that lady is chasing that guy. Too funny. I have say, Jasmine finally won out and stole a hug and kiss although Connor wasn't too happy. =)

And we ended the day taking some pictures of the strawberry heads that went:

Binkie Free!!!!

I think I can finally say it. Connor is binkie free!!! WOO HOO!!! One night we were sitting watching CARS before going to bed and Surbjit told Connor, since we are watching CARS, no binkie for bed tonight. He said, "OK". We put him to bed and that was it. The next night I said the same thing to him and he said, "OK." and that was that! He hasn't asked for it once since! Of course now his new thing is he wants the door open. I'll take that over the binkie any day!

Mommy & Daddy Go Out

That's right! Surbjit and I were able to get out of the house Saturday night thanks to Bigi! Our friends Jeff and Romy called us up and asked if we wanted to go to Irwindale Speedway because it was 2 for 1 night. Bigi just happened to be there visiting so we asked her if she would watch the kids. She said yes so we took her up on her offer! The racing didn't start until 7pm anyway so we got the girls ready for bed and put them to bed before we left. Of course they didn't fully cooperate and cried for about 10-15 mins but finally went to sleep. I guess Taylor woke up after we left but Bigi held onto her and she feel asleep and was fine the rest of the night. Connor wasn't a big deal either. He got in his jammies and they watched CARS (his all time favorite movie right now!) and then went to bed.

We got home a little after 10pm so we weren't whooping it up at night! It was just nice to get out of the house just us two for once. I can't remember the last time we did that. Ok I can, I was pregnant with the twins and it was the weekend before I went on bedrest. We would have gone out more but that darn bedrest thing got in the way. Oh well

First Family Photo

So last weekend we didn't end up going camping. Long story short our friend hurt himself while he was loading his dirtbike into his truck and had to go to the ER. He did break his toe and will be out of work for awhile but otherwise he is ok. But since we didn't have anyone else to go with, we weren't going to go by ourselves so we cancelled our trip. John and Melissa and Mackenzie were supposed to come out Saturday since we were only going to be camping about 20 minutes from their house so inside, we drove up to their house and hung out for the day. It was a lot of fun. And we were able to take our first family photo of the five of us. Here it is:

I'm really glad we got to hang out with them. Since they live so far away, we hardly get to see them anymore. And Connor and Mackenzie are only 4 months apart. They played really well together. Connor was a little touchy and sensitive that day but I think it's because he was in a new environment and all. Otherwise, he did pretty good.

Rolling Over

And so it's begun! Taylor rolled over for the first time from her tummy to her back this past Saturday. It was so funny. You should have seen the look on her face like woah! What did I do?! I put her on her tummy again and she did it again so it wasn't a fluke. Basically everytime I put her on her tummy she would roll over. =) Now Emily needs to do it. LOL! Taylor is almost ready to roll back to front. She is almost there, she just needs to get her arm out the way. Emily is slowly getting there too.

This weekend we moved both of them out of the co sleeper. We had moved the cosleeper to their bed to make the transition easier and to make it so the crib isn't so big for those little babies. =) Well my little babies aren't so little anymore. Taylor wasn't basically trying to roll over in the cosleeper mashing her face against the top of it so I figured it was time for her to get out. Then Sunday morning I wake up and see Emily all the way down OUT of her cosleeper and kicking the musical thing hanging on the side of her crib and turning the music on. (it got her to go back to sleep at least!). So needless to say we took her out of it last night too. So my babies are growing up. (sniff. sniff.)

It's Official!!!

I got the results of the DNA test back. Taylor and Emily are fraternal twins. I should have figured that out. =) The older they get, the more and more they keep looking less and less alike. It will be very interesting to see and watch them grow up and how they are different. I mean, this is basically just sisters that happened to be born at the same time. So as much as everybody keeps saying Taylor looks like Surbjit and Emily looks like me, I guess we will get to see what our girls that take after each of us look like as they get older. =) I'm still going to keep dressing them alike though. ;-) It's just so much easier when I'm picking out their clothes the night before. LOL!

Connor's Words of Wisdom

This weekend we were playing outside and Connor was in the garage. Here is our conversation:

M: Connor (I can't see him in the garage)

C: (coming out to where I can see him) What?

M: What are you doing?

C: In Daddy's Garage.

M: If that's Daddy's garage, is this Mommy's house?

C: No.

M: Who's house is it?

C: It's Connor's.

Well, I guess he told me!

Easter

Well, the girls first Easter was beautiful!!!! Let's just say we are having a heat wave (and if this is any indication of what's to come this summer, I'll be having one heck of an electric bill!). It got to 92* on Sunday. YIKES!! We woke up and the Easter Bunny visited. He even left his foot prints for Connor to see. He really liked that and was amazed! He opened his Easter basket and didn't play with anything except his tractor trailer (Mack from CARS). Well, he played with his bubbles and sidewalk chalk but just because Mommy did. =)

Surbjit's family came over (minus Debbie - who was on a cruise and Edith - who wasn't feeling good) and we had brunch. I think we'll make that a tradition. It was so nice. It wasn't a lot of work, we just had bagels, muffins and a breakfast casserole, and it was too heavy for food either. It was just perfect! Then we had Connor and Monalicia "hunt" for eggs. (They weren't hidden, you just had to pick them up). Connor did great picking up lots of eggs. Monalicia did great too with Daddy's help and Uncle Harjinder's help too. I can't help thinking about next year when we will have four kids walking around and one that will need "help". The four kids running around picking up eggs will be fun to watch!!! Then we went over to the park to play for a little bit. It was so hot though we only stayed for about half an hour. Connor and Monalicia were so tired they were falling asleep on the way back. Monalicia, Taylor and Emily did fall asleep on the way home and Connor went down for a nap when we got back. Everyone left soon after and we ended up having Connor, Taylor and Emily outside for the rest of the afternoon. It was a beautiful day but HOT!!!! I see many more days like that in our future though because all three LOVE being outside. =)

Connor and the ATV

So for those that know us, you know that we got Connor one of those kiddie ATV's for his birthday. Obviously Surbjit loves riding so of course we are going to get Connor to also. Especially since he always wants to sit on Daddy's quad. So anyway, for his 2nd birthday we got him this quad. He wanted NOTHING to do with it. NOTHING. Wouldn't sit on it, nothing. Lately, he would go over to it and ask "mommy push the but". So I'd push it and ask Connor if he wanted to. He'd say "no, mommy push the but." Then he'd start to get on the quad and try to move it with is feet. Since it is a motorized vehicle, he couldn't move it hardly and would get off. Today, after I got home from work, he got on the ATV and was trying to push it with his feet. I asked him if he wanted to push the button. Again he said "mommy push the but" but he didn't get off the ATV! So I moved his feet onto the quad and pushed the button with him on it. And you know what?!? He liked it!!!! I had to steer him and push the button but he stayed on and wanted more. I asked him to push the button but he never did. Baby steps!

Sleeping Through The Nigh?!?!

For the past three of four nights, both girls have slept the entire night!!! YEAH!!!! I hope this is a trend that continues for many months (even years!!!!). Taylor has taken to waking up and talking. She isn't crying, she just talks. =) It's so cute!!! She will start to cry if you ignore her too long. But she will sit there and talk for probably 15 - 20 mins.

And Surbjit got Taylor to laugh on Saturday night!! It was so cute! I think I got a small laugh out of Emily this morning. I still can't get Taylor to laugh for me. But she is being a little more giving with the smiles these days. =)

Baby Loves Disco

And so did Connor!! (And Mommy too - that's my kind of music!!!). So we went to Baby Loves Disco in Orange County, CA. We had a blast!!! And even though Connor did not nap that day. He did pretty good.

We got there really early. I thought traffic was going to be worse than it did so we ended up being 1/2 hour early. No big deal. We met Melanie and Dylan there. So we walked around a little and waited in line. We were like the fourth people in line. I'm glad we got there early. The line kept growing and growing!!! We went inside and checked it out. This club that this was at had a HUGE fish tank complete with a shark (hence why the club's name is The Shark Club!). Connor LOVED that tank. We probably spent half our time watching it. But we also got out there and boogied! Connor danced and jumped and shook some shakers and used the hula hoops. I think he had a good time. They also had TONS of snack there for the kids (and adults too). The snacks included goldfish, cheese and crackers, fruit, veggies, juice boxes, etc. (this was all included). They also had their menu at the club you could order from and the parents could order drinks too. All around the club were various vendors. There was a yoga class going on, some massaging too (I didn't do this DARN!), a storyteller, face painting, temporary tattoos and hair coloring for the kids (washable of course!). There was also a chill out area complete with tents, pillows, games and books for the kids to do. And of course, there was the dance floor! They had bubbles going, egg shakers, hula hoops and scarves for the kids to play with while they danced. And the DJ played lots of good disco and 80's music for everyone to enjoy. Basically all the good music that is appropriate for kids to hear but none of the "kids" music (you know like Barney, Doodlebops etc. NONE of the that!).

So we had a good time. We ended up leaving after about an hour and a half. Since Connor hadn't napped he was getting grouchy. So Melanie and I left and we headed to South Coast Plaza to eat dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Connor loved it! He got to see water and elephants and alligators and gorillas. He was kinda scared but not. I was afraid he might have nightmares that night but he was fine! On the way home, I was asking Connor if he was tired and of course he said No as his eyes were closing. =) He fell asleep as soon as I got off the freeway. I had to carry him inside the house. =) We changed into our PJs. Watched part of our favorite movie (CARS) and then when I told him it was time for bed he did not complain ONE bit!! I think he was tired!!!!

So it was a good time. I guess I would take the girls since they are free (non-walkers are free) but I don't think they'd get much out of it other than watching all around. If I had a child that was just starting to walk I don't think I'd take them as there were a TON of people and your child would probably get run into. Everyone was very nice and careful but with that many people it's hard not to bump into people. I have pictures on my camera. Once I download them, I will share!!!

Easter Bunny

So we went to see the Easter Bunny on Sunday. I wasn't going to hold my breath since visiting Santa last year was oh so good (insert rolling eyes here). So we went with my North OC Moms Working Group. We met them at the Brea mall. Poor Surbjit. He was the only guy there but there was no way I would be able to handle all three kids by myself. Plus there was supposed to be at least one other father there but he didn't go. Oh well. I guess Surbjit could have stayed home with the girls since they were sleeping the whole time anyway but it was nice to get out. It was a beautiful day!!

So anyway, we got to the Easter bunny and there was no one else there. YEAH! So we got in line. One of the moms went but her daughter was NOT cooperating so she asked someone to go ahead of her that way she can watch and maybe be ok with it. So I jumped in and said ok since Connor was just itching to go see the Easter Bunny. We got up to him and he said hi to the Easter Bunny and I told him to sit next to him. He climbed right up there and sat down. No crying no fussing no nothing!!! =) So the lady is not ready to take the picture. I'm like yikes! How long will this last? So I start talking to Connor about the Easter Bunny and what he's going to do and I tell him to talk to the Easter Bunny and he's looking at him and repeating everything I"m saying! FINALLY, the lady is ready and we take the picture! It actually came out pretty decent. He didn't want to smile at first but Daddy got him to smile.

We didn't have the girls take their picture with the Easter Bunny because Taylor was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her up. Emily was up but I couldn't very well have her just take the picture. I can imagine Taylor later in life "I'm scarred because my sister took a picture with the Easter Bunny and I didn't." Next year definitely!!!

The Weekend

So let's see. What did we do this weekend. Saturday we went to Chris Jr's 2nd birthday party. Ok, that makes me feel guilty for not having a birthday party for Connor for his 2nd birthday but really, what was I supposed to do? I had week old infants! It was Thanksgiving so he had a HUGE meal and he got pumpkin pie. =) Plus, he did not need any more toys then he got from family anyway! I still have some of them sitting in his closet! LOL!

Anyway, back to the birthday party. So we put Connor down to nap early (12:15-12:30) since the party was starting at 2. He's been napping barely an hour lately so we figured no problem. It was 2:45 and he was still napping!! So we finally had to wake him up. We woke him up and got going and got to the birthday party about 3:20pm. Just in time for the pinata! Connor got to swing at it (although I had to help and after two swings he was so NOT interested in doing it anymore). He did have fun picking up the candy and immediately wanted to eat it. Then we got to watch Chris jr open presents. Of course Connor wanted to play with the presents. I had to keep telling him that they were not his and that Chris would open then later. While we were watching Surbjit was over in the corner with the twins just hanging out. They feel asleep on our way there and slept almost till we left. They were up for probably about 20 mins before we left. There was also a jumper there that of course Connor would NOT go into. Grrr. I don't know if he will ever go in one. I guess I just have to keep trying.

After the party we went over to Romy and Jeff's house. We haven't hung out with them for a long time. Connor got to play with Dylon (their grandson) and Katrina (their daughter). It was nice to see him playing with kids his age. Romy and I held the girls and I ended up feeding them while we were there too. We ate dinner and then we headed home a little before 9pm. Late night for Connor!! He went home and straight to bed and I tried to give the girls some more to eat and got them ready for bed. Taylor of course slept the whole night, Emily woke up at 2:30am. Then was up a little after 5am for the day. I was so tired yesterday.

Sunday we stayed at home. It was a beautiful day! Well, actually Connor went with me grocery shopping. It seems that's what we do on Sunday's now. =) And then we went and got his hair cut. He did really well. He cried when I first put him in the chair but then he fine the rest of the time and even enjoyed it. Bigi and Uncle Harjinder came over in the afternoon and we played outside. Connor had fun with his water table and playing on his clubhouse climber.

Last night, the girls did pretty good. They were both in bed at 8pm. I don't know if it's just because there are two of them crying or what. When we put them in bed, it doesn't matter if they've fallen asleep on us while eating or not, they wake up and start crying. So we give them their binkie, for Taylor we put the vibrate thing on under her bed or for Emily we put the music on and leave. After about 5-10 mins, they fall asleep. Sometimes, Emily won't wake up and will just sleep but Taylor, it never fears, she wakes up. But then I don't know if it's because they are feeding off of each other but it seemed to me if we put them both down to sleep at the same time they would cry longer. I don't think this is the case. I think it's just me thinking they are crying longer because there is two of them crying. Know what I mean?? In any event, they both fell asleep withing 10 mins last night of us putting them down. Emily then decided to wake up at 11:30pm. I had fallen asleep at 9pm. I guess Surbjit said he grabbed her and held her and she started to fall asleep again so he put her back in bed and she started crying again. He came into bed and we waited to see if she would fall back asleep on her own but after 10 mins I got up and made her a bottle. She ate a whole 1/2 oz. Oh well. She fell asleep while I wad feeding her, I put her in her crib and she did not make a peep. I woke up at 4:15am and both never woke up. I actually had to wake both of them up this morning when I was getting ready.

So anyway, that was our weekend. I am so excited that I have Friday off and I get to relax. I don't think there is anything that I "have" to do. So maybe I can get some sleeping in and clean the house a little bit. I'm so looking forward to it!!!

Dare I Say It?!?!

I think Taylor is finally sleeping through the night consistently! (Ok watch, tonight, she won't sleep through the night). Emily is hit or miss. Last night she slept through the night. YEAH!! That means I got uninterrupted sleep last night. =) That was nice. Of course my body still woke up at 2:30 and was like what's up? Let's wake up now. ;-) Um, NO! But I did end up having to wake up at 4am. One of the girls kept crying out. By the time I looked at the monitor I couldn't tell who it was. Sometimes it sounded like Taylor and sometimes it sounded like Emily. It was probably each of them at different times. So I woke up and took a shower and started to get dressed. I didn't actually have to go in their room until 4:50 though. =) So I got to sit down and watch tv for like 10 mins. Of course Connor decided to wake up at 4:40am. So he went into bed with Daddy while he finished sleeping. Kids.

ETA: Since Joanna commented about her's sleeping from 11pm - 6am I guess I should say what time, huh?!? Let's see, Taylor is sleeping from 8pm - 4 or 5am. Emily is 8pm til about 1:30 or 2:30am if she wakes up and then I get her up at 5:30am. So there ya go! We actually start getting them ready for bed (bath, change, feed) at 7pm. Depending on how long it takes them to eat depends on what time they go to bed. Sometimes it takes them an hour to eat (if they are falling asleep and/or playing with the bottle). I'll give one of them a bath (which ever is more fussy) and dress them for bed and then hand her over to Surbjit to feed. Then I do the same to the other one, but I feed this one. Sometimes we'll end at the same time depending on how they do eating wise. =) And of course by the time we start getting them ready for bed Connor "should" be bed. We usually put him to bed by 7pm, 7:30 at the latest. I know I always have a TON of questions about what people do at night so I hope that helps!!!

Connor's Words of Wisdom

I don't know what else to title it. If I think of something better, I'll change it.

So we were playing with three of Connor's cars yesterday in his high chair while Daddy finished making dinner. He had "parked" one of his cars and Connor says, "car in time out". Surbjit and I look at each other. Surbjit asks Connor, "why is the car in time out?" Connor says, "because car no listen." So apparently, I guess it's getting through to Connor that when he doesn't listen to Mom and Dad he gets a time out. Do I think he'll start listening now? No.

Exciting News!!!

BOTH of the girls slept the entire night last night!!! WOO HOO!!! They cried out here and there but they never cried like they were hungry and basically it was a cry like I'm still here and then they fell back asleep. WOO HOO! I was so excited. I kept waking up every 1/2 hour from like 1:30 - 4:00 when I finally woke up thinking wow, this is strange. I hope this is a trend that will continue for the most part! That would be VERY nice. I know there will be nights here and there that they will wake up and need food (growth spurts etc). but if this could be the "norm" it would make momma VERY happy!!!

3 month pictures

So we took the kids to get pictures taken. We brought Connor in the hopes of getting a picture with all three kids. Um, yeah, didn't happen. Connor was in a mood. Let's just say, Surbjit ended up taking him home before we were even done to give him a spakin'. Daddy bought Connor a tractor trailer (his new love now) and he wanted it open NOW!!!

So anyway, we never got pictures of the three of them. We did get pictures of all three, just not together. Connor cooperated (finally!) and we got a picture of him alone. That worked out good for me anyway since I never got to get his 2 year pictures taken. I was kinda occupied with twins when that happened. Oh well. 3 months later isn't too bad!

The girls cooperated for the most part. We didn't get any smiles. =( They smiled before, they smiled after but they did not smile during. Oh well. We went to Sears. It wasn't bad and I got the CD with all the pictures so I can make as many copies as I want. I should print out some today so I can bring them to work. Since I have them, I can share them with you here. So enjoy!
