Pumpkin Patch 2009

So we went to the Pumpkin Patch at Irvine Park Railroad last Sunday. It was a gorgeous day! We got there right when it opened and we couldn't have asked for a better day. I would highly suggest you go first thing as when we were leaving around noon it was quite crowded and was getting hard to walk around without bumping into people!!

First, we were able to hit up all the photo cut out! What fun!! All three of the kids LOVED getting their pictures taken in them.

Then we decided to try out the hay maze while we waited for Uncle Harjinder and Aria to join us.

When Uncle Harjinder and Aria got to the pumpkin patch - we waited in line for the train ride. Of course this was the highlight for Connor!!

While on the train ride, Connor noticed some kids with face paint. Of course, he wanted to get his face painted. So when we got off the train, we found the face painting booth. He ran right up to the chair, sat down, and procceded to tell the makeup artist he wanted to be spiderman. I never had to prompt him one bit! So spiderman he was!

Then we headed back to the hay maze since Aria hadn't had a chance to go in it yet.

After going round and round in the hay maze (the kids LOVED running around it), we went in the Haunted House. The kids weren't really liking it but they went through. It was mostly just DARK. Nothing really scary (except for a witch with some bug eyes that was it). After going through the haunted house, we let Connor ride the tractor ride. After listening to another parent tell her husband that the ride was for kids 4-7 only, Connor caught on real quick he had to be 4. So when the ride "operator" asked how old he was, Connor replied 4! And let me tell you, he just as good if not better than the older kids!

By that time, it was getting close to lunch time, so we picked out our pumpkins and headed out of the park. We ended up going out to lunch with Uncle Harjinder, Aria and Bigi at Sizzler. Yummy. But now I know why we don't go out to eat. I totally did NOT get my money's worth on the salad bar. I think I got ONE plate. Woops!  But the girls both had another plate of mine so I guess it all evens out in the end.

It was really fun. This was the first year I've gone to a pumpkin patch. I know Surbjit took Connor the year I was pregnant with the twins. I know this will be an annual event we do every year. It was lots of fun and the kids LOVED picking out pumpkins!!

So we went camping last weekend at Ocotillo Wells. It was a very beautiful but eventful (and not good eventful) weekend. It started with us heading out of town Thursday night. Surbjit and I took Friday off to make it a nice 4 day weekend although we only planned to camp until Sunday. Got there Thursday night, no problems, unloaded and headed to bed. Friday woke up and the kids went outside played etc. After fighting with the girls to take a nap (I really have no place for them to be confined anymore since they can crawl out of the travel cribs and Emily will NOT settle down until she basically passes out), Emily finally fell asleep. Taylor never did and she was feeling warm to me so I took her temp. She had a fever. =( Gave her Motrin. All afternoon and night. Everyone went to bed, woke up in the morning and it was 103.5. Started packing up the motorhome. Got everything packed and then we decided instead of going home, we'd take our friends truck and take her to the local ER (which was 33 miles away) and have them check her out. She was just getting over a cold so she probably had an ear infection.

So off I go to the hospital. Thankfully it wasn't really crowded and we got seen quite fast. No ear infection, throat looked good. She probably just has a cold but let's take a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. So they did and no pneumonia. Basically just rotate Motrin and Tylenol every three hours and that was that. Of course, since that time she really hadn't had a fever since that morning. So we got back to camp at noon. The kids got to finish playing but Taylor was still upset every so often and kept saying "I pooped" but there was no poop. So on Sunday we get home and I take her to the doctor AGAIN. We thought maybe Urinary Tract Infection but her fever had gone away so I don't know. Get to the doctor. She definitely has poop stuck in there so I had to do a suppistory and prune juice. It worked its way out. And it was hard as a rock. Poor girl. The doctor said since she had a cold she was probably dehydrated and not drinking enough so that's why the poop got so hard. So Monday she was still complaining a little so I gave her some stool softener and kept her home from school. She went poop and it was SO much better. So I guess we need to start watching out for her and make sure she is well hydrated in order to stave off the constipation. Poor thing!!!

Onto better news, this morning I got the kids ups and noticed Emily's diaper wasn't that wet. She had pee'd but it wasn't soaking so I asked if she had to potty. She said yes so we went to potty and she DID! I guess I know what I'll be doing every morning now. =) Yesterday she even told Surbjit she had to potty so they went to the potty and she pee'd! Woo Hoo!! I have a feeling she will definitely be potty trained before her sister.

What The Heck?

I don't know if I mentioned before that we had a fundraiser at the kids preschool. It was basically the second week of preschool and we had a fundraiser. So I hit up my coworkers and we hit up Surbjit's family. I would have hit up more but I didn't see many people in the two weeks it was running. So anyway, the top seller would get 2 free adult tickets and two free children tickets to Disneyland. Guess who was the top seller??? US!!! Go figure! We were planning on going to Disneyland for either Surbjit's or Connor's birthday (since they get in for free that day), the girls are free so we figured we'd only have to pay for two people. Well now, we don't! It will be a nice day and all we will have to pay for is food and souvenirs!! YEAH!!!!!

Back to School Night

Yes, we had Back to School night. For preschool. Have you heard of that?? I certainly haven't. But it was nice. =) We finally got to "meet" all the teachers so we know who the other teachers are in the other classrooms (I already knew who the kids teachers were). We also got to see the work the kids have been doing since the beginning of the year. And boy, let me tell you. I'm impressed. =) I'll have to take pictures of what we got to take home. Some stuff is still hanging on the walls and I'm sure we'll get that too. The theme for the month of September was the Jungle. So they learned all about different animals of the jungle etc. Connor made a picture of an elephant. Really cute. And the girls (since they were so young) got their pictures taken with a stuffed giraffe. It was so cute!! So we got to mingle and see the other parents and kids too. It was fairly chaotic so we didn't get to really meet any parents. But one parent came up to us and said hi. Turns out, the kids pediatrician sends his son their!! And better yet, his son is in the twins class. Small world!! Another thing I guess the 4 year olds were doing was learning the Lord's Prayer. It is a Christian school after all. So Connor recited the whole prayer to me after we got home. =) It's not a short prayer either. I'm very impressed that he memorized the whole thing in basically 3 weeks of school!! Very proud.

The girl's vocabulary is just starting to EXPLODE! Taylor especially. Emily is and always will be my stubborn one doing things when she wants to but she is talking more now too. This transition of going to this school has helped them out tremendously!! Emily is even showing signs she's almost ready to potty train - please help me! I don't think I'm ready to deal with it yet though. =D But overall, they are doing exceptional! Even the teachers at back to school night told us so and were extremely happy with thier transition and how they even though they are young. This morning the girls were being quite um, challenging, they wanted me to read and be with them while I still had to feed Connor and get him dressed so they were crying, whining etc. I finally asked "Are you ready to go to school?" and both girls yelled, " YES!" , clapped, and started for the front door so apparently they really like school. And Connor does too. After the second week where he kept saying I don't want to go to school, we haven't had an episode of that again. Everytime I ask him, he says he likes school. =)

The other good, the kids LOVE that they get to bring their lunch. I actually bought their lunch this past Tuesday. Connor said he wants a sandwich instead. =) And the girls LOVE carrying in their lunch bags. Who am I to say no especially when lunch costs $4 PER kid. That's $12 for one day of lunches! I think I can make lunch for the whole week for $12! Yikes!

Last weekend we spent visiting with Surbjit's Aunt, Uncle and Cousin. His cousin lives in Australia and was in town visiting. The whole family got together at Harjinder's house (where they were staying while in town) and they got to visit and meet the kids and play and visit. It was a nice afternoon. We actually got a picture of all the kids with them. Good thing we did since Mona ended up leaving early to go to a birthday party. I don't think we got all the kids to look at the camera at the same time but we got close! Once I download the pictures, I'll share. Connor of course was being his funny self. :sigh:

This weekend, no big plans. I have a garage sale for my multiples group that I'm participating in. I'm trying to get rid of all the baby junk I no longer need. I am NOT having anymore kids that's for sure. =) And Surbjit would like to be able to see the garage I'm sure. Then I have a wedding to go to for a friend from college. Should be fun. I guess a lot of us girls are going without hubby's (Surbjit is staying home with the kids) so we'll be able to party. ;) Sunday Surbjit will be busy getting ready for our camping trip next weekend. Yes, we are going camping next weekend, if the weather holds out. It will be our first desert camping trip of the season AND the first desert camping trip that Taylor will be walking. Can you believe that?? She's only been walking since June. It seems like she has been walking forever!

Well, I guess I should stop boring you will tons of details in one post. I need to keep updating more. I'll try and share pictures as soon as I have a chance!

A Little of This, A Little of That

Gosh. I keep wanting to come in here and post but I've just been busy. I even started writing a post and id not get to finish it last week so here I am! :sigh: I have pictures from the last two weekends downloaded to my computer at home so hopefully tonight, I'll get a chance to share!

Let's see. First, we had Kaylee's Birthday party. It was at Pump It Up. An indoor inflatable bounce house mecca I guess you could call it. I was a little dissapointed. They had four "jumpers" - one was a regular jumper, one was an obstacle course jumper, one was a slide, and the last one was a jumper with a small slide in it. Connor was a scardy cat. But I guess what's new. Taylor on the other hand - CRAZY. =) She loved the obstacle course. I had to go through it 4 times with her! The first time, I tried to take all three kids. Emily and Connor bailed after the first little climb. Taylor would cry when I wasn't right with her but as soon as I had her again, she was fine. We finally made it all the way to the final climb and slide. It was probably a good 8 foot climb where I'm trying to push her up and Kaylee is at the top waiting to hold her and take her down the slide. That was interesting. But she LOVED it. So much so that she ran to get on it again and never looked back. Didn't care if I was right there was trying to get through it all herself. We finally got Emily to do it the last time we went through. She liked it. Connor never did it. We also did the slide. Kaylee took Taylor down it and I took Emily. Connor would not go. Oh well.

Then last weekend was our camping trip. It was a nice weekend. It was warm but not too hot. It ended up just being our family with our friends Gina and Curtis coming out Saturday for the day. It was very nice. Of course, the kids did not end up napping on Saturday. Not fun! At least trying to get them to nap was NOT fun. They actually did pretty good all day despite the no naps. Of course at the end of the day, Taylor was SO tired she fell asleep watching Dora in the chair with Connor. (I have a pic!). And Emily went right to sleep once she laid done. So it was a very nice weekend.

This weekend, Surbjit's cousin is in town from Australia. She came over last night and I got to meet her and the kids got to meet her. They didn't like her at all - said VERY sarcastically! They were jumping all over her, having her rock them, playing with her. They didn't want her to leave. =) We told them we'd be spending Saturday with her so they'd get to see her again. It'll be nice since the whole family is going to be together so all the cousins and whatnot can play together!

Preschool is going pretty good. Finally this morning as I was leaving Connor was playing with the other two boys that are there as early as we are. So moving in the right direction. He says he has fun but then he says I'm not crying mommy. It's hard to understand what is going on with that boy! The girls are doing pretty good too. Taylor is a talking machine. She will repeat anything and everything. This morning she asked for yogurt for breakfast so I had to give it to her. =) Emily on the other hand is stubborn and will only say things when SHE wants to. We really need to get her out of that habit. Also for the last two nights, Emily has ended up in our bed. :sigh: Not sure why she is waking up crying but she goes right to sleep in our bed. Of course she has to sleep sideways so it's a little inconvient. Especially when her feet are kicking my face. Hopefully it doesn't happen again tonight. And Taylor every night when we put them to bed, two minutes later is standing in her crib crying. We go in there, she lays down and two minutes later, does it again. Ugh. This keeps going on and on until we finally threaten her and she is fine. Not sure what is up with that but I'm ready to be done with the sleep struggles.

So that's what's been going on in our neck of the woods. Hope you all are doing good and staying cool. It's in the 90's around here (100's yesterday) and really does not feel like fall. I'm ready for some cooler weather!!
